When Moles Start Damaging Your Lawn
Moles can move through the ground surprisingly quickly, creating extensive tunnel systems beneath lawns, flowerbeds and larger landscaped areas.
The most obvious signs are fresh molehills, but the disruption happening below the surface can be just as frustrating. Tunnelling can leave areas of ground soft and unstable, disturb plant roots and spoil carefully maintained lawns. Signs include:

How Valkor Tackles Mole Activity
Identifying Active Tunnel Routes
Effective mole control starts with understanding where the current activity is taking place.
Valkor assesses the affected area and identifies the tunnel routes most likely to be actively used.
This allows traps to be positioned strategically rather than simply reacting to each new molehill as it appears.
The assessment may consider:
- Fresh molehills
- Main tunnel routes
- Secondary tunnel lines
- The size of the affected area
- Activity around boundaries
- Damage to lawns and planted areas
Targeted Subterranean Trapping
Once active areas have been identified, reusable subterranean traps are carefully positioned within the tunnel network.
For standard domestic gardens, Valkor uses a structured three visit treatment programme with six traps positioned around active routes.
Larger gardens and paddocks may require traps to be spread across wider and secondary tunnel lines to provide more comprehensive coverage.
The purpose is to tackle the active problem without relying on surface treatments that do not address what is happening underground.
Longer Term Lawn Protection
For larger properties, ongoing management may be appropriate where new moles could move into previously established tunnel systems.
Valkor offers packages with activity warranties for larger gardens and grounds, including boundary trapping for areas up to one acre.
With the premium service, molehills are also professionally flattened during the final visit to help leave the affected area looking tidier once the treatment programme has been completed.

How do I know if I have active moles?
Fresh molehills are the most obvious indication. You may also notice soft or spongy areas of lawn, disturbed soil or damage around flowerbeds and planted areas.
Will flattening the molehills solve the problem?
No. Molehills are a visible result of the tunnelling taking place beneath the surface. The active tunnel system needs to be addressed if you want to tackle the source of the problem.
How many visits does mole treatment require?
Valkor’s mole control packages use a structured three visit programme. The number and positioning of traps depend on the size of the area and the level of activity.
Can you treat large gardens and paddocks?
Yes. Valkor offers options ranging from standard domestic gardens up to 100 sqm through to larger gardens and paddocks up to 500 sqm and grounds of up to one acre.
